Henderson County is a
place where many people have done and continue to do their utmost to make life
better for all residents. These outstanding individuals have dedicated much of
their lives to bringing about justice for all. The list of their
accomplishments is endless, but among other things they have pushed for
integration of our schools, struggled to improve housing conditions, worked to
ensure equal opportunities and promoted tolerance. They understand that, unless
you have the right to be different, you are not really free.
The Latino Advocacy
Coalition is proud to introduce the Spirit of Diversity Awards to honor these
individuals. Each year we will celebrate three people who embody the spirit of
diversity in our community. We will acknowledge their work in the past; we will
encourage their current efforts and dream of their future achievements.
